On the 15th, the PSPV Congress ratified Diana Morant's re-election as the general secretary of the Valencian Socialist Federation. The event was attended by the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez.
This ordinary conclave takes place ten months after the extraordinary one in Benicàssim (Castellón), where the PSPV elevated Morant as their leader to succeed former president Ximo Puig at the helm of the party.
Following her ratification, Morant delivered a brief speech advocating for 'the necessary alternative' to Carlos Mazón's Consell and the 'denialist coalition' formed by the PP and Vox, despite no longer sharing the Valencian government.
The interventions at the 15th PSPV Congress are heavily influenced by the impact of the DANA and the political management by the Government and the Generalitat.
In this regard, the Minister of Science also thanked Sánchez for 'being with the Valencians one more day and from the first day' after October 29th.
'Already at the extraordinary congress in Benicàssim, we said we were necessary. With the DANA, we are more necessary,' emphasized Morant, who in 2024 became the first woman to lead the PSPV.
This weekend, the Valencia Conference Centre hosts a total of 543 socialist delegates from all regions, who will work on Saturday afternoon in the commissions on the political presentation of the congress.
The meeting will conclude this Sunday with the appointment of Morant's new executive, the intervention of the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, and Morant's final speech.
