DFSK E5, the cheapest 7-seater plug-in hybrid SUV on the market

DFSK wants to make a place for itself among electrified cars. And for this, it brings to Spain the DFSK E5, a seven-seater plug-in hybrid SUV, which becomes the cheapest vehicle of these characteristics on the market. Although its list price is 30,999 euros, with promotional discounts and with the MOVES plan with scrapping included, the rate is reduced to 25,999 euros.

Under the hood, the DFSK E5 has a plug-in hybrid engine, consisting of a 1.5 gasoline engine with 102 HP and another electric motor of 130 kW (176 HP). The total maximum combined power is precisely 217 HP.

The battery, of the ternary lithium type, can be recharged in alternating current at a maximum power of 6.6 kW. The accumulator's capacity is 17.5 kWh and its recharge time is about 4 hours, allowing it to travel up to 87 kilometers with exclusively electric propulsion, according to the WLTC homologation cycle. Therefore, it has the "Zero" environmental label and all associated tax advantages and access to city centers.

In addition, the architecture of the DFSK E5 offers the possibility for the battery to function as an energy supply point (V2L). In this way, small appliances can be used, as well as recharging scooters, pedal-assist bicycles or any other electronic device at a maximum of 3.3 kW.

This technological deployment is accompanied by abundant equipment, where the only option in the Intelligent trim is metallic paint, which costs an extra 520 euros. On the outside, highlights include folding and electrically adjustable mirrors, automatic LED headlights, panoramic roof, electrically operated trunk lid, roof rails and 19-inch alloy wheels.

The seven occupants of the new DFSK E5, which is initially only marketed in Intelligent trim, will enjoy seats upholstered in Nappa leather. The steering wheel is multifunctional, and the driver's seat has 6-position adjustable electric adjustment with heating and ventilation, as does the passenger seat with 4-position electric adjustment. It also includes a 12.3" Smart screen for the infotainment system –and a 7-inch screen for instrumentation– up to 12 speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, USB and Android/Car Play, wireless mobile charger or air conditioning. In addition, to facilitate access it also offers a keyless entry and start system.

Among the notable safety elements are six airbags, hill start assist, parking assistance sensors or lane departure warning.

The new DFSK E5 plug-in hybrid is already accepting orders at the brand's commercial network. As a launch promotion for the first 100 units sold, the importer extends the vehicle warranty by two years for free, increasing from 6 to 8 years. There is no car of these characteristics with such a competitive price on the Spanish market: the next similar model is about 15,000 euros more expensive.
