The presiding judge of the Alicante Court of Instruction No. 9, acting as a duty and substitute judge for the competent juvenile court, has ordered the precautionary measure of detention in a closed regime for a maximum period of six months for the 17-year-old youth arrested for allegedly stabbing his 15-year-old ex-girlfriend in the neck in Orihuela.
The court has granted the prosecution's request to order this precautionary measure following his appearance this Tuesday at the Alicante Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, according to sources from the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV).
Thus, the detention in a closed regime for the arrested minor is decreed for a maximum period of six months, extendable at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office for another six months. The proceedings are declared confidential.
The incident occurred this Sunday night in Orihuela Costa. The teenager, a 15-year-old Spanish national, was taken to Torrevieja Hospital with stab wounds, where she died before reaching the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), as this newspaper has learned.
