Dénia cannot avoid having to increase the garbage fee. Other municipalities in the Marina Alta have already announced the new rate values that will start to be charged in 2025, and now it is the turn of the capital of the region. There, the bills will rise by an average of nearly 20%, as announced this Thursday by the Councilor for Finance, Paco Roselló. But not all residents will pay the same amount for their homes, as was the case until now. Since 2022, everyone paid 140 euros, and for 2025, the municipality has been divided into 10 zones.

Roselló explained that for each household there will be a fixed fee of 110 euros, to which a variable rate must be added depending on the area in which it is located. In this way, residents of the urban area will have to face a total bill of 162.51 euros. The lowest of all will correspond to the scattered area, with 154.93 euros, and the most expensive will be the homes in Montepego, with 191.64 euros.

Regarding La Pedrera, the fee will be set at 177.75 euros. In Deveses, the bill will be 164.53 euros, while it will be 166.38 in Les Marines, 174.64 in Montgó, and 168.11 euros in Les Rotes. The amount for La Xara has been set at 167.42 euros and at 164.98 euros for Jesús Pobre.

As for the bills corresponding to activities, the structure remains the same as before, and a linear increase of 19.51% will be applied compared to what they paid until now.

The Councilor for Finance commented that the rate variation responds to a community regulation of 2022 and that municipalities had until 2025 to implement it. In this regard, the European Union law indicates, as detailed by Roselló, that what citizens pay must fully cover the cost of waste collection service management. It also focuses on the principle that the polluter pays and that an economic capacity principle must be followed when determining how much each person pays.

In this regard, given the impossibility of individualized control, it has been decided to divide the municipality into zones and that the increase is based on the average cadastral value of each of the ten areas established in Dénia.
