The drastic rise in rental prices in Dénia has compelled the local City Council to seek measures to curb their continuous increase. With a cost per square meter nearing 11 euros and an 11.3% increase compared to last year, rental prices have risen nearly five euros per square meter over the last decade, according to data from Idealista.
Therefore, the council has taken action and conducted a diagnosis of the municipality's housing stock. The study, prepared by the University of Alicante, has proposed a series of housing measures.
Proposals that the Dénia government will implement to try to curb the surge in rental prices. One of these measures will be a set of subsidies aimed at renovating vacant homes in the municipality to make them available for long-term rental.
With this measure, which the council has confirmed it will implement, the aim is to increase the residential rental housing stock, addressing the shortage of supply currently faced by the municipality. According to the study, 11% of all homes in the city are vacant, approximately 5,551 according to the latest data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
