The board of directors of Pimesa has provisionally awarded the demolition works of blocks 11, 12, 13, and 14 in the San Antón neighbourhood, which have been declared in a state of ruin. The final decision will be made in the coming days.
The Mayor of Elche, Pablo Ruz, explained that the first objective is the demolition of blocks 11 and 14, which are empty and awaiting documentation, while efforts are underway to evacuate blocks 12 and 13 to commence demolition as soon as possible.
"The first step has already been taken by the City Council and Pimesa; we have a company for the demolition at a total cost of 885,000 euros, and the next step is to finish evacuating the central blocks 12 and 13 for demolition," stated Ruz.
Meanwhile, Pimesa's board on Monday awarded the construction of the new social centre in Torrellano for 4.9 million euros. The centre will have a surface area of approximately 2,000 square metres spread over two floors, housing a library, reading rooms, offices for associations, social workers, the local pedáneo, and the Local Police, as well as multipurpose rooms and music classrooms. The works, which will begin after the summer, will last for 20 months.
According to Ruz, "this is the largest investment in the history of this hamlet by the Elche City Council and further evidence of the municipal government's commitment to the hamlets, to reverse the neglect they have experienced for years."
Furthermore, the tender for 392 social housing units under the 'Casa Fácil' plan has been initiated. The mayor assured that "this is the largest provision of public housing to the people of Elche in recent history," and in the coming months, the allocation will be carried out based on the Generalitat Valenciana's Plan Vive model, with public-private collaboration.
This initiative translates into 150 new homes in sector E-27, on Avenida Alcalde Ramón Pastor, accompanied by 193 parking spaces; 57 homes in the Pla-San José area, on the site of the old market, with 78 parking spaces; 4 on Carmelo García Serrano street in Carrús, and 10 on Hispanoamérica street in Torrellano.
In the coming months, 50 new homes and 62 parking spaces will be added on the 3 available plots in the hamlets of Las Bayas, which will be promoted and built by the municipal company Pimesa.
Additionally, 'Casa Fácil' involves the immediate launch of 75 affordable rental homes in the Travalón area, ready to be awarded and funded by the Next Generation funds, along with 45 new homes in the San Antón neighbourhood.
