À Punt reviews the events that have most impacted the Valencian people every Thursday night on the programme Dejavú. This week, the show takes us back to the year 2000, a year that began with the global panic over the potential collapse of computer systems due to the so-called Y2K bug.

The programme, hosted by Mireia Llinares, recalls the countdown to the year 2000. For many, it was feared to be the end of the world as a computer error was expected to cause widespread failure in global transport, commerce, and communication systems.

That year, as if that were not enough, we also faced a veterinary epidemic that triggered a severe food crisis. Dejavú will revisit the bovine spongiform encephalopathy, known as mad cow disease, which instilled great fear of consuming beef. The first case in Spain was detected in Galicia on November 2, 2000.

Also that year, the actor from Paterna, Antonio Ferrandis, popularly known as Chanquete for his role in the series Verano Azul, passed away. Dejavú will feature family members and colleagues such as Miguel Joven, who played 'Tito' in the iconic TVE series.

This Thursday's episode also discusses the legionellosis outbreak that affected Alcoi. The population experienced significant panic as the source of the bacteria was not found, and 180 cases were recorded.

While legionella and mad cow disease wreaked havoc, the Museum of Arts and Sciences was inaugurated as a symbol of the city's transformation and a commitment to modernity and avant-garde. This took place on November 13, 2000, and Dejavú revisits the moment.
