The Local Police of Cartaya (Huelva) discovered late on Monday, May 12, the decomposed body of a man, who is believed to be the suspected perpetrator of the gender-based murder that occurred in the town on April 24.
According to reports from the Huelva Información newspaper and confirmed by the Civil Guard, the body has been taken to the Forensic Institute for autopsy and identification. It is believed to match the suspected killer of the 54-year-old woman, a victim of gender violence in Cartaya, who had been sought since the crime.
Initial evidence suggests the alleged perpetrator may have taken his own life after the murder. The Civil Guard continues its investigation, awaiting the autopsy results.
The crime took place on April 23 at the victim's home in the Barriada del Almendral. Neighbours alerted the Local Police after hearing the screams of the person who discovered the body, a former partner of the woman who was carrying out work in her home unrelated to the crime.
The suspected perpetrator of the gender-based murder, who lived with the victim at the time of her violent death by hammer blows, had been wanted by the Civil Guard since then. The woman worked for the Delegation of Economy, Finance, and European Funds of the Junta de Andalucía in Huelva and was part of the Viogen system, but not "because of the partner she was currently living with, but because of a previous one."
