Eduardo Barrachina, the President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the United Kingdom, has passed away. The leader of Spanish entrepreneurs in London died last Sunday at the age of 46 "after a long and courageous battle with cancer," according to the institution's statement, which also highlights his leadership and pivotal role in strengthening relations between Spain and the United Kingdom.

According to the entity's text, Barrachina assumed the presidency of the institution in July 2018 and, since then, worked to forge closer ties with the administrations of both countries and consolidate its role within the Hispanic-British community in London. The same message underscores that his efforts were crucial for the growth and recognition of the Chamber at an institutional level.

Professional Career

Barrachina worked for over 20 years as a lawyer in London, reaching the position of Managing Associate at the firm Linklaters. He also received numerous accolades throughout his career, including the Cross of the Order of Civil Merit in 2015, the title of Commander of the Order of Isabella the Catholic in 2020, and the Commendation of the Order of Civil Merit in 2023.

The Chamber of Commerce has announced that a commemorative event will be held in London, with the date to be announced soon. Additionally, the institution has declared three days of official mourning in honour of Barrachina.
