CareMakers is a pioneering charitable initiative in the automotive sector, aimed at helping vulnerable and socially excluded individuals access the job market through mobility. The goal is to ensure that, given the current social and economic conditions, the lack of a vehicle does not prevent access to a job offer.
To this end, the Renault and Dacia foundation offers, through various NGOs, the possibility of obtaining a Dacia vehicle via a three-year multi-option Preference loan, with no down payment and monthly installments of €175 for a Dacia Sandero, or €40 for an electric Spring.
Ignacio Rodríguez-Solano, director of the Renault Group Spain Foundation, Laurent Sengenes, general director of Dacia in Spain, Antonio Elia, director of Mobilize Financial Services Iberia, and representatives from Candelita, one of the first collaborating associations, presented this initiative, justified by a series of economic data.
In the last 15 years, the average price of new vehicles has increased by 38%, while household incomes in Spain have risen by 21%, reaching an average household income of €34,821, according to data from AEAT and INE. This disparity in the growth of both factors reveals a mismatch between household incomes and access to mobility, potentially excluding lower-income individuals from accessing new vehicles.
Through this project, citizens who meet the requirements and need access to mobility can obtain a three-year multi-option "preference" loan to acquire Spain's best-selling model, the Dacia Sandero Eco-G 100 (LPG) or even a Dacia Spring electric 45 (taking advantage of the corresponding MOVES aids). Additionally, this program also helps limit the ecological impact of these journeys, as it often replaces very old vehicles with new ones that consume less energy and have low carbon emissions.
During the presentation event, Ignacio Rodríguez, director of the Renault Group Spain Foundation, highlighted the relationship between access to mobility and job opportunities, as well as personal and professional development.
"Mobility plays an essential role in obtaining and retaining employment. This is a source of inequality: more than half of those seeking work and in a situation of economic fragility have been forced to reject a position due to a lack of transport solutions. This social issue prompted Renault Group to launch the inclusive mobility program CareMakers in France in 2012. After several years of helping over 3,000 people, we are proud to announce that Spain is the second market where this solidarity initiative is being developed," he noted.
Laurent Sengenes, general director of Dacia in Spain, stated: "Dacia is and will remain a close and accessible brand, because our purpose is to make mobility accessible to as many people as possible. At Dacia, we believe that mobility should not be a barrier in anyone's life, and for this reason, we have developed this charitable project, together with a committed ecosystem of partners such as our dealership network, to facilitate the purchase of a vehicle for vulnerable individuals who otherwise could not access a new vehicle."
CareMakers has agreements with the Candelita association, Aldeas Infantiles, Fundación Lesmes, Treball, and Smart Top Services. Additionally, the Renault Group Spain Foundation, which works with Candelita to support vulnerable women by funding their studies to obtain a driving license, completes its commitment to inclusive mobility through this project that allows the acquisition of a vehicle at a competitive price.
