The Local Group of PSPV-PSOE in Benidorm will hold an assembly next Saturday to proceed with the renewal of the General Secretary and the Local Executive Committee. This meeting will also determine the representatives for the regional governing body of the socialists.

Currently, the incumbent General Secretary, Cristina Escoda, is the only candidate who has formally expressed her intention to seek re-election. However, the party's internal statutes allow any member to present their candidacy up to 24 hours before this extraordinary assembly, with the deadline closing on Friday at 10:30 am.

Four years ago, besides Escoda, Dani Luque and Bernardo Mira also ran for the position, leading to a primary election in which the current municipal group spokesperson emerged victorious with just over 42% of the votes.

Subsequently, Escoda was also confirmed as the candidate for the 2023 municipal elections, where she achieved modest results, securing only eight councillors, two fewer than in the 2019 elections.

Escoda expresses her enthusiasm to continue leading the party in the tourist capital of the Costa Blanca and states that she is working on assembling her team.
