CREAMA, the Consortium for Economic Recovery and Activity of the Marina Alta, will mark its 30th anniversary with an institutional event in Calp on July 3rd. The event is expected to host historical figures, technicians, suppliers, and collaborators of the consortium.
This past Monday, a press conference was held to announce the anniversary events. Among the attendees was the Mayor of Calp, Ana Sala, who highlighted that this year her municipality holds the presidency of CREAMA and will host the commemorative events. "We celebrate 30 years since that historic November 8, 1994, when the agreement that gave life to CREAMA was signed in Dénia, a pioneering project born to unite efforts and strengthen our region," she noted.

The Mayor of Gata de Gorgos, Josep Francesc Signes i Costa, recalled that his municipality joined CREAMA in 2005 and emphasized the consortium's diversity as one of its greatest strengths. "CREAMA has managed to weave unity in diversity, creating a sense of region, shared belonging, and common interests that go beyond administrative borders," he stated. Signes highlighted that CREAMA not only structures the territory through technical management but also through a "sense of collectivity, solidarity, and common project."
"Mutual Trust"
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Pego, Enrique Moll, reminisced about the project's beginnings in 1994, driven by funding from the European Social Fund, and noted the tangible impact of nearly 20 European projects managed by CREAMA, benefiting over 2,500 people in the region. "This consortium was not built through imposition, but through alliance and mutual trust. CREAMA is a tool for regional structuring that demonstrates that together we are stronger," he affirmed.
The three representatives agreed on valuing the collective effort of all the people and institutions that have made CREAMA's continuity possible over three decades. "Today we pay tribute to commitment, networking, and the will to create a region," they concluded.
Meanwhile, the President of CREAMA and Provincial Deputy for Economic Development and European Projects, Carlos Pastor Ventura, reviewed the three decades of achievements with significant figures: over 700,000 people served, 73 million euros managed—more than 5 million from European funds—85 regional projects developed, and an active network of local agencies now with 9 offices following the reintegration of El Verger. "CREAMA is one of the best examples of territorial cooperation, institutional efficiency, and public service vocation we have in the province," Pastor stated.
