Bus Crash Causes Alarm in La Vila

Slight panic early in the morning in the Alicante town of La Vila Joiosa. A bus drove straight into a roundabout in the town and crashed into the monument decorating the roundabout.

The accident occurred around 7:20 am on Monday, and according to sources from TodoAlicante, there were no injuries, although there was material damage. The bus was carrying passengers, who were relocated to another vehicle.

The same sources indicated that the traffic accident was caused by a "distraction" of the driver, who was on the route between La Vila Joiosa and Benidorm corresponding to the Tram de Alicante.

The bus driver involved in the roundabout crash underwent alcohol tests with negative results, "zero, zero," according to TodoAlicante.

This accident occurred at the roundabout on the N-332 connecting the Cala area with the town of Vila, through the Talaies district and the Torres industrial estate, which also provides access to the funeral home.

A crane arrived at the scene to remove the bus, whose front was destroyed by the collision with the monument evoking the colourful houses of La Vila Joiosa.

Similarly, another bus was sent to transfer the passengers who were travelling on this line, which replaces the Tram de Alicante on the route between these towns in the Marina Baixa.
