The Civil Guard seized over 13,000 counterfeit products in markets across the province between July and September, valued at one million euros. As part of 'Operation Summer 2024', the Civil Guard investigated 25 individuals for alleged industrial property crimes.
According to a statement from the security body, the operation was deployed in markets, commercial establishments, and access routes to tourist areas in Benidorm, La Cala de Villajoyosa, Denia, Calpe, Torrevieja, and Crevillente.
The aim was to curb the sale of counterfeit products, which took advantage of the high demand generated by sporting events such as the European Championship, the America's Cup, and the Paris Olympic Games. Among the seized items were football kits, leather goods, lighters, and other textile and consumer products from prestigious brands.
During July and August, agents from the Fiscal and Border Patrol (PAFIF) of Calpe and the Fiscal Detachment of Denia, along with Civil Guard officers from Calpe and the Main Post of Torrevieja, intensified efforts in weekly markets and highly tourist areas. In Benidorm, La Cala de Villajoyosa, and Denia, operations were conducted in markets, intervening in thirteen stalls, and in Calpe and Torrevieja, access controls to beaches and promenades were carried out.

In the northern area, the Civil Guard conducted inspections in up to three shops in Benidorm and intervened in 13 market stalls and four street vendors in Calpe, seizing 7,535 counterfeit sports kits, textile items, and investigating 20 people aged between 26 and 56.
Regarding the operation in Torrevieja, agents carried out various interventions on the promenade, seizing 350 products, including kits, bags, or sunglasses. Several shops were also inspected, allowing the Civil Guard to investigate three men aged between 35 and 56 for alleged industrial property crimes.
Also, in Crevillente, the Civil Guard, in coordination with the Local Police, seized 6,288 counterfeit products in two commercial establishments, investigating two men aged 49 and 54.
In total, around 13,080 illegal products have been removed from the market, and their commercialization posed a serious fraud and unfair competition. Among the seized items are 3,713 sports kits and 3,822 leather and textile products, in addition to over 6,200 counterfeit lighters, all reaching a market value of over one million euros.
To date, 25 people of various nationalities and ages have been investigated, including citizens of Pakistani, Indian, Spanish, Senegalese, and Moroccan origin, as well as two individuals of Chinese origin. All are charged with industrial property crimes related to the sale of counterfeit products.
