High temperatures have once again forced the closure of the Cova de l'Or in Beniarrés. Consequently, the Provincial Archaeological Museum (Marq) has also suspended guided tours of the site to avoid the summer heat.
Thus, the visiting season to this Neolithic site will conclude on the weekend of July 12th and 13th, resuming on September 6th when the heat is expected to subside in the province of Alicante.
In this way, visitors will be able to once again pass through the gates leading to the province's past once the school term begins. The schedule for this activity, managed by the CV Marq Foundation in collaboration with the Beniarrés Town Council, will be available on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.

The CV MARQ Foundation, together with the local council, manages this intriguing proposal, offering visitors a comprehensive tour of both the Interpretation Centre and the site itself.
This tour of the Alicante Neolithic begins with a guided visit to the Interpretation Centre in this town of El Comtat, which includes a museum tour and a video presentation to contextualise the space and its surroundings.
The route continues by vehicle to the start of the trail leading to the Cova de l'Or site. Once at its gates, visitors can enter the cave and traverse, via a walkway, through various grottos that have been adapted since work began in 2016.
Since the launch of the guided tours at the site in June 2021, the Marq has recorded "more than 3,000 visitors," detailed the Deputy of Culture, Juan de Dios Navarro. Thus, the Cova de l'Or represents "a significant boost for a municipality of barely a thousand inhabitants."
