The University of Alicante has begun the countdown to launch the elections for the Rectorate for the next six years. The two proclaimed candidacies will officially kick off their campaign activities with the posting of posters across the campus.
This time, the elections feature the participation of the Professor of Financial and Tax Law, Amparo Navarro, who is seeking her last chance for re-election at the UA, following the amendment established by the LOSU, which sets a single six-year term, and the Professor of Chemistry, Enrique Herrero.
Both candidacies, proclaimed this Monday, will be publicly presented this Tuesday with the start of the electoral campaign, which will run until November 26. The first event, the poster posting, will take place early in the morning: at 8:30 AM, Amparo Navarro will be at the General Library, and at 9:30 AM, Enrique Herrero will be at Lecture Hall 2.
Following the symbolism of this action, the campaign will continue with the opening event of the candidate for UA Rector, Enrique Herrero, at 10 AM at the sculpture 'Dibuixar l'espai' - known as the Hand - and at 1 PM with Amparo Navarro at the Ramón Martín Mateo Rector's Hall of the Faculty of Law.
Likewise, the General Secretariat of the academic institution will host at 9:30 AM this Tuesday the public draw for the electoral table, which will be unique. Since the vote is held electronically, the presence of the electoral table during the voting day is reduced to brief opening and closing ceremonies of the digital ballot box.
As stated in the regulations, the table will consist of a chairperson and two substitutes from among the permanent faculty of the University, who will act as chairperson of the table; a chairperson and two substitutes from among the students; and a chairperson and two substitutes from among the PTGAS, who will act as secretary of the table.
The Electoral Board of the University of Alicante has established that the voting hours for the rector elections will take place between 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 27, and 2 PM on Thursday, November 28. The count is carried out by the electronic voting platform, "being a very quick process." The scrutiny and constitution of the table will be conducted in the Multimedia Room of the rectorate.
