Countdown to Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's Wedding

Countdown has begun for one of the most anticipated weddings of the year: Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez have sent out invitations for their matrimonial ceremony, which will take place this summer in Italy. According to 'Page Six', the couple has chosen the romantic city of Venice as the setting for their union, scheduled for June.

The Amazon founder and the popular journalist got engaged nearly two years ago, in May 2023. Bezos proposed to Sánchez during the Cannes Film Festival aboard the Koru, his impressive $500 million yacht. The couple then celebrated their engagement in the picturesque seaside town of Positano, Italy, accompanied by close friends and notable figures from various fields such as Bill Gates, Queen Rania of Jordan, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Although the exact date of the wedding has not been revealed, the ceremony is expected to be an intimate yet luxurious event, in line with the couple's lifestyle. It is speculated that the celebration might take place aboard the Koru, just like the proposal, ensuring greater privacy and control over every detail.

Jeff Bezos, 61, was previously married to MacKenzie Scott for 25 years. The couple shares four children: three sons and an adopted daughter from China. Despite appearing to be a well-established couple, they announced their separation in January 2019, with the divorce finalized in April of the same year.

Lauren Sánchez, 55, is a renowned journalist and television presenter with a long-standing career. Before her relationship with Bezos, she was married to Patrick Whitesell, a prominent Hollywood agent, with whom she has two children: Evan, born in 2006, and Ella, born in 2008. Additionally, Sánchez has an older son, Nikko, born in 2001, from her relationship with former NFL player Tony González.

In February 2019, just a month after announcing his split from his wife, the Amazon founder accused 'National Enquirer' of attempting to blackmail him with the publication of intimate photos of him with Lauren Sánchez. This led to a saga that even touched upon U.S. politics, which, far from threatening the budding couple, brought them closer together.

American Media Inc. (AMI), owner of the magazine, demanded that the businessman, who also owns 'The Washington Post', halt his investigation into how the tabloid obtained his private messages about him and his new girlfriend and make a public statement denying any political motivation in the 'National Enquirer' coverage. In response, Bezos published the emails sent by AMI with explicit threats to publish the images. This was a blow to AMI, which had already been involved in a scandal for attempting to silence damaging stories about Donald Trump during the election campaign that led to his first term as President of the United States.
