The Costa Blanca Provincial Tourism Board has been recognised as an example in promoting accessible tourism, both physically and digitally. This distinction is highlighted in the first edition of the 'Guide to Best Practices in Tourism Accessibility', recently presented at an online event organised by Ilunion Accessibility, with support from the Andalusian Government.

The President of the Alicante Provincial Council, Toni Pérez, stated that the initiatives carried out by our autonomous body, included in its Action Plan, have established the province as an inclusive and accessible destination for all visitors.

Among the notable actions supporting this recognition are two key projects: the promotion of adapted cycling tourism and the Smart Costa Blanca project. The former demonstrates that adapted cycling disciplines, such as handbiking, have a place in the region. Through activities like 'famtrips' with the No Limits Club, collaborations with international content creators, and training sessions for municipal technicians, Costa Blanca has worked to position the province as a leader in accessible sports tourism.

On the other hand, the Smart Costa Blanca project is an intelligent tourism management system designed to ensure universal accessibility in the digital environment. It integrates advanced technology to present the destination's offerings in a visually impactful and accessible manner, ensuring that both online tools and physical resources are available to all audiences.

Both initiatives reflect the commitment of the Alicante Provincial Council and the Provincial Tourism Board to comprehensive accessibility, encompassing both the in-person experience and digital tools, said the President. All this aims to ensure that the Costa Blanca is a benchmark as an inclusive destination, eliminating barriers and ensuring access to information and services for all visitor profiles.

Additionally, Toni Pérez highlighted that the inclusion of these actions in the 'Guide to Best Practices in Tourism Accessibility' underscores the work and role of Costa Blanca as a promoter of more inclusive, sustainable, and connected tourism, while also advancing that this document will serve as a reference for other tourist destinations interested in implementing strategies that effectively integrate physical and digital accessibility.

The institutional leader indicated that this recognition highlights the leadership of our autonomous body in transforming the tourism industry towards a more inclusive model focused on visitor experience.
