The Consell is dissatisfied with the measure proposed by the Ministry of Finance to forgive the debt. The government branch led by María Jesús Montero announced this Monday the model to be presented at the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council (CPFF), which will be held next Wednesday.

A model that will allow forgiving up to 83,252 million euros of debt from the autonomous communities, with Andalusia and Catalonia being the most benefited with 43% of the total forgiven, followed by the Community, which would be the third.

An announcement that came after the words of Oriol Junqueras, leader of ERC, who had announced the agreement with the Government to forgive 22% of the Catalan debt. An announcement that did not please the Consell and the Department of Economy and Finance led by Ruth Merino.

Merino described it as an "insult" that the Sánchez Government "imposes something that in theory we have to agree on within two days at the CPFF" and claims that the "independents' route is strictly followed with the assumption of part of the debt of the Autonomous Communities."

The Department of Finance has described the government's measures as "institutional disloyalty and contempt." In this regard, Merino emphasizes that "we do not understand that the Community would be the only one whose underfunding would not be compensated, despite meeting at least one of the two requirements of Phase 3." According to the regional finance official, "the total accumulated underfunding reaches 44,058 million, equivalent to 80.1% of all its debt."

It is for this reason that Merino and the Mazón government criticize this agreement and assert that "the proposed forgiveness would not allow access to the markets." Therefore, the councillor once again demands that "the CPFF address the reform of the SFA and the leveling fund."
