The Minister of Environment, Infrastructure, and Territory, Vicente Martínez Mus, has reaffirmed the Generalitat's commitment to the Port of Dénia with the execution of two actions that "will transform and reactivate this vital infrastructure for the Community".
According to the minister, the investment for the works at the Port of Dénia "exceeds one million euros and includes essential dredging and work on the access road to Moll de la Pansa to improve navigation safety and expedite transit".
On one hand, Martínez Mus pointed out that it is a dredging requested for years by the port sector and that "has not been carried out since 2011". Its objective, he indicated, is "to guarantee maritime safety and port operability. Furthermore, we have all the necessary environmental permits to carry it out in an environmentally friendly manner".
The works include maintenance dredging of depths in commercial dock areas, small intermediate dock, entrance channel, and mouth, as the time elapsed since the last dredging "makes it essential to act to recover adequate conditions of safety, access, and maneuverability".
Regarding the works at Moll de la Pansa, Martínez Mus emphasized that they are "a key investment to promote a positive experience for port users, improving vehicle circulation safety and facilitating the transit of people and goods".
According to the minister, the works at Moll de la Pansa "begin this Monday" and aim to provide "accessibility and comfort, especially during peak tourist months", he indicated.
The Ministry will carry out maintenance dredging in several critical areas of the port, covering an area of 135,500 m², with a planned volume of 50,000 m³ of dredged material.
The investment for this action will exceed 500,000 euros. The last major dredging was carried out in 2011, with a volume of 29,800 m³. The extracted material will be dumped in an area designated for this purpose, complying with required environmental permits.
For its part, the works corresponding to Moll de la Pansa will include expanding the access road from three to four lanes; painting a median; creating pedestrian routes at least 2 meters wide; level pedestrian crossings; urban bollards on sidewalks to improve pedestrian safety; as well as renewing lighting networks and reinforcing signage. The works have an investment of 573,000 euros.
With these actions, Martínez Mus noted that "the Ministry hopes not only to improve the infrastructure of the Port of Dénia but also contribute to the economic development of the area and satisfy citizens and tourists who pass through it".
Prior to the visit, Martínez Mus held a meeting with representatives from Cercle Empresarial de la Marina Alta (CEDMA) to discuss implementing an agreement that will facilitate developing accesses to the port of Dénia.
During the meeting, key aspects related to modernizing industrial areas and improving rail transport were analyzed. In particular, a proposal under processing for new access through the "Ronda Nord" sector promises to alleviate inconveniences caused by current access through urban areas and transform it into a more viable urban space including residential zones and facilities.
Martínez Mus reiterated his "commitment to the project" and announced that work is underway on an agreement between Dénia City Council and Generalitat defining steps towards realizing this access.
