The Consell approved this Tuesday the decree-law that will provide direct aid to Alicante's countryside. The regulation will allocate 17 million euros to agricultural and livestock farms to mitigate the negative effects of drought and other issues such as high temperatures or the war in Ukraine.
The measures, adopted as extraordinary, aim to give the countryside a break, which has experienced a significant drop in production and a decrease in cultivated hectares.
Of the total amount of aid, 2 million euros will be allocated to livestock farms, and another 15 million to farmers. It is estimated that the aid can reach about 500 livestock farmers and 29,500 farmers, benefiting 175,000 hectares of crops.
In the case of livestock farmers, beneficiaries will include producers of beef, sheep, and goat meat, as well as producers of cow's milk, sheep's milk, and goat's milk. Farmers will benefit if they grow cereals, oilseeds, and protein crops in dryland and permanent crops of this type.
Regarding the amount of aid, it is estimated that each livestock farm will receive an average of 4,000 euros, while agricultural holdings will receive between 200 and 4,500 euros for herbaceous crops and up to 1,200 euros for permanent crops.
The aid will be granted directly without intermediaries, with the collaboration of cooperatives and professional agricultural organizations, to reach as many beneficiaries as possible.
