The Alcoi Campus of the University of Alicante (UA) will host twenty activities until June as part of its cultural program, sponsored by the Fundación Mutua Levante. The program includes conferences, round tables, film cycles, courses, and book presentations, as detailed on Wednesday by Catalina Iliescu, Vice-Rector of Culture, Sports, and University Extension of the UA, Pep Jordà, trustee of Fundación Mutua Levante, and Antonio Belda, technical coordinator of cultural activities at the Alcoi-UA Campus.
The first activity will take place next Monday, January 20, at 7 p.m., in the Auditorium of Fundación Mutua Levante, marking the start of the University Extension Conference Program, "Meet Your Neighbors. A Photographic Project to Discover the Biodiversity Around You," by Alfonso Lario, a nature photographer and environmental educator. The second conference in this program will be delivered by UA professor Aitana Pastor, who will discuss "Landslides and Flood Risk in Alcoi" (February 10, 7 p.m.).

The third conference, "From the Neurobiology Lab to the Clinic. The Basic Science Behind Blindness Therapies," will be delivered by Laura Fernández Sánchez (UA) on February 17 at 7 p.m. Carlos Gosálbez (Serteco) will offer the talk "Technical Talk on Economics" (March 10, 7 p.m.); on April 21 (7:00 p.m.), it will be the turn of "Natural and Recycled Products to Provide Color in Textiles and Ceramics," by Bàrbara Micó (UPV), and the program will conclude with "Earth Pollution Seen from Satellites" by Luis Guanter (UPV), on a date to be confirmed.
The program also includes four round tables at the Auditorium of Fundación Mutua Levante, all at 7 p.m.: Photovoltaic Panels in the Vall de Polop (January 29); Ungulates and Agricultural Damage and Accidents (February 11); Landscape and Territory (March 20); and Environmental Risks in Alcoi (April 24).
Cinema will feature four proposals: Cinema for Seniors, the cycle of screenings in the original version (Italian, English, German, and Valencian) in collaboration with the Official School of Languages, Cinema for Educational Centers, and a fourth film cycle titled "They Saw It First." The screenings will take place in the Auditorium of Fundación Mutua Levante.
The cultural proposal includes two courses at the Font Roja-Natura Scientific Station: Mushroom Cultivation Course (June 6 and 7) and Flora and Vegetation Course at Font Roja (June 14).
The program is completed with three book presentations, also at the Auditorium of Fundación Mutua Levante: on January 27, Francesc Llorca will present "Fish and Salt. Lexical History of Salting"; on February 12, "The Peninsula of Empty Houses" will be presented with David Uclés; and on March 24, "The Secret of Safira" will arrive, with Esther Vizcarra. All three presentations will be at 7 p.m.
