Ernest of Hanover has been urgently hospitalised for the third time in just over a month and a half, raising concerns about his health. At 71, the former husband of Caroline of Monaco remains at the Ruber Clinic in Madrid, where he is constantly supported by his current partner, Claudia Stilianopoulos, and his son Christian, along with his wife Sassa de Osma.
Although details about his condition have not been disclosed, Hanover has been suffering from various ailments for some time, since late 2024. Prior to that, his unhealthy lifestyle habits have also taken a toll. In December 2024, he had a severe fall that required hip surgery. The recovery was complicated, and he had to undergo a second operation due to issues with the fracture's consolidation. At that time, he had to use a walker to move around.
A few months later, in April 2025, he was hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to complications in his health. It was speculated that it might be due to the aftermath of a cardiac surgery in which a stent was implanted. In any case, in recent months, the hospitalisations of Caroline of Monaco's former husband have been recurrent, and although he has the support of his closest circle, neither his youngest daughter, Alexandra, nor his eldest son, Ernest Augustus, have visited him yet.
