Since last weekend, Curro Romero has been hospitalised at Virgen Macarena Hospital in Seville due to an infectious process for which he is being treated with antibiotics, and a drastic drop in blood pressure. This new setback in the health of the 'Faraón de Camas' worries his admirers. On Monday, his wife, Carmen Tello, who remains by his side at all times, confirmed that the bullfighter will stay in the hospital, although she also noted that he is improving after the antibiotics have started to take effect.
In May of last year, the 91-year-old bullfighter suffered another health issue when he fractured the head of his femur at home. This new complication and the ongoing antibiotic treatment necessitate his stay in the hospital for monitoring and necessary tests.
Despite his advanced age and the usual ailments, the last time we saw him was just a week ago when he attended the bullfighting proclamation organised by the Real Círculo de Labradores de Sevilla, delivered by Basque journalist Chapu Apaolaza, who paid tribute to Juan Antonio Ruiz 'Espartaco'.
