Febrero Teatrero' features eight plays at the 'Antonio Gil' Auditorium of the Casa de Cultura in Sant Joan d'Alacant from 1st to 28th February, with the participation of two local theatre groups, the premiere of the Youth Theatre Workshop, a performance by a Madrid-based company, and the third edition of the National Inclusive Amateur Theatre Showcase 'NOSaltres'. Eight performances, all free, with diverse themes and genres aimed at a broad audience.

'Febrero Teatrero' will commence on the 1st with 'El Pollito' by Maniquí Teatre, a text written and directed by Noe Vicente, performed by Daniel Sampedro, who returns to Sant Joan after winning several awards in various Spanish cities and will, in May, have a permanent run in a Madrid theatre. On Friday 7th, the Mira-Nos Teatro company will premiere 'Entre Amigos', a tragicomedy written and directed by Roberto Mira, in their hometown. On Friday 21st, 'El Veneno del Teatro' by the Madrid company El Garaje del Actor is scheduled.

The month concludes with 'Proyectoo Medusa', a production created by and for the Youth Theatre Workshop, part of the Municipal Theatre School. Two of its young actresses, Arantxa Vargas and Carmen Loupi, explained that both the acting cast and a significant portion of the technical crew are students from IES Luis García Berlanga.

As highlighted by Councillor David Aracil, "this equally promotes pedagogical and educational work, as it is an activity where Culture, Youth, and Education come together." The councillor emphasised that "whenever theatre is scheduled, the auditorium receives a very good audience turnout, it is one of the most followed arts, and the proof is the Municipal Theatre School, which already has 6 different groups."

Third edition of 'NOSaltres'

The third edition of the National Inclusive Amateur Theatre Showcase 'NOSaltres' offers four selected productions over two weekends in February. The plays that can be seen in Sant Joan, also with free admission, are 'En la Luna' (Saturday 8th) by Alpi Teatro from L'Alfàs del Pi, a play written by Alfredo Sanzol that invites reflection on our own history and memory. On Sunday 9th, 'La duda' will be performed by Platea, a company from Tomelloso (Ciudad Real). On Saturday 15th, it will be the turn of 'La Celestina 1905', the classic by Fernando de Rojas, turned into the 'Circus Tragicomedy of Calixto and Melibea', by the Madrid company Menecmos. To close the showcase, on Sunday 16th, the comedy of errors 'Caos en escena' by Atrezzo Teatro from Molina de Segura will be presented.

Meanwhile, the coordinator of 'NOSaltres', Noe Vicente, noted that the festival continues to work for inclusion, both with the selection of plays and by maintaining support "for two patron associations, which introduce their charitable work to the audience before each performance." Vicente also highlighted the high level of the productions that are part of the lineup, three of which are from outside the Valencian Community, with shows performing across Spain.
