The complaint by a car dealership manager in Torrevieja regarding a potential scam by a customer has led to the arrest of two alleged fraudsters in the Madrid district of Villaverde, according to the Civil Guard.

The complaint was filed last October and the Territorial Judicial Police Team of Torrevieja launched 'Operation Tracey24' to clarify the facts. In the initial phase, officers discovered that the documentation used by the supposed buyer originated from a wallet theft inside a vehicle in the Madrid municipality of Pozuelo de Alarcón.

As the investigation progressed, it was determined that the criminals had used the stolen documentation to purchase computer equipment from a multinational technology company worth 2,400 euros. Additionally, they acquired two credit cards from international furniture and decoration companies, with which they made purchases worth 6,000 euros. All of this was managed in the name of the theft victim, without their knowledge or consent.

During the investigation, Torrevieja officers collaborated with the Local Police of Boadilla del Monte, whose agents, during a routine security check, identified two individuals travelling in a vehicle. During the inspection, they found documentation directly linking them to the investigated events. Moreover, both had prior records for property crimes, according to investigation sources.

With this information, investigators headed to the Villaverde district, where the suspects resided, and on January 13th, they proceeded with their arrest. The detainees, two men aged 36 and 54, are charged with three counts of fraud, three counts of identity theft, three counts of breach of confidentiality, and one count of theft. After being brought before the Madrid Investigating Court No. 32, the judicial authority ordered their release with precautionary measures.

The swift action of the officers not only led to the arrest of the fraudsters but also blocked the delivery of a car purchased in Torrevieja valued at 46,900 euros. They also managed to prevent further fraudulent charges in the victim's name.

The Civil Guard reminds the public of the importance of immediately reporting the theft or loss of personal documentation, as it can be used to commit crimes in the victim's name, open bank accounts, or apply for loans without their consent.
