The President of the Generalitat and leader of the PPCV, Carlos Mazón, was elated this Tuesday in Alicante. It was the least he could feel after witnessing the party's mobilisation at all levels across the Valencian Community. A show of strength to which Alberto Núñez Feijóo has joined, not hesitating to support the head of the Consell.
With this atmosphere, he has been emboldened. Understandably so. In his defence of the Valencian Community, Mazón recounted an anecdote that occurred at the Presidents' Conference last Friday in Barcelona. The regional president demanded this Tuesday, among other things, the creation of the Joint Government-Generalitat Commission for the DANA. He recalled that the one in La Palma was established in 11 days "and we have already been waiting eight months."
Mazón reminded the Prime Minister on Friday in Barcelona: "Come on, Carlos, come on," was the response Pedro Sánchez gave him, as the Alicante native revealed this Tuesday.
This anecdote has been the touch of humour Mazón allowed himself in this climate of bolstering his management. The President of the Generalitat returned the compliments to Feijóo and thanked him for his commitments to the Valencian Community to "reverse the current situation." Moreover, during his speech at the event, he defended his management in the Consell since 2023.
In this regard, he referred to the approval of the "recovery budgets" and the second of the "change" government, "no matter the cost to provide stability, security, and certainty." "I don't know who can say that from La Moncloa," he quipped.
For all these reasons, according to Mazón, "not having budgets in Spain is not only irresponsible," but a "direct attack" on the Valencian Community. All this while "for the third consecutive year," investments are "below average" in the provinces of Castellón and Valencia, and Alicante is "the last" in this regard.
Additionally, the President has defended the 60% reduction in the surgical waiting list in the Valencian public health system for priority one patients, most of whom are cancer patients, and the dependency list by more than 20,000 people. He also highlighted the approval of the so-called Educational Freedom Law, free education from zero to three years, and having "ended" the "tax hell."
