The Alicante Official Medical Association (COMA) has organized the II One Health Conference of COMA, which will be held on November 6 and 7 in both online and in-person formats, with the collaboration of the Official College of Veterinarians and the Official College of Pharmacists of the province of Alicante.
This training covers topics such as global warming and its environmental impacts, antibiotic resistance, institutional commitment to the sustainability of the healthcare system, and the effects of climate change in the clinical environment. It is an interdisciplinary conference, featuring expert speakers in the field: doctors, veterinarians, pharmacists, climate experts, and political representatives who will participate in four engaging panel discussions.
One of the main objectives of the Conference is to advance the implementation of the 'One Health' strategy, which demonstrates the interdependence between human health, animal health, and ecosystems.
It also aims to raise awareness among society and policymakers about the need to act preventively in Public Health and prioritize the adaptation of the healthcare system to environmental changes. Implementing and realizing the One Health approach is vital to safeguarding Public Health.
The II One Health Conference of COMA is aimed at both healthcare and non-healthcare professionals, as well as non-academic organizations interested in health and environmental sustainability. Registration is free and open to the general public. It is a training declared of health interest by the general directorate of research and innovation of the Department of Health, and it is also pending SEAFORMEC accreditation.
