Colpisa Agency, the central editorial office of Vocento newspapers, has been named a finalist in the prestigious digital journalism awards by the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA). The report, authored by Sara I Belled and titled 'All the Jerseys of the Vuelta since 2014: How the Multicoloured Snake Has Changed', analyses the visual identity of the teams that have competed in the major Spanish tour in the men's category over the past decade (from 2014 to 2024).

In its 18th edition, the Digital Media Awards Europe 2025 received a record number of entries, with Norway, Germany, and Spain leading the way. The visual story about the colour of the jerseys has been shortlisted in the Best Data Visualisation category, alongside works from Reuters and Norwegian newspapers Dagbladet, VG, and NRK. The jury, composed of around thirty European media professionals, will announce the winner in May in Krakow.

In the period leading up to the 2023 Tour, several teams unveiled kits where white was the dominant colour. At that time, some articles noted that the use of white had increased in the peloton. This data journalism article takes those references and develops them with a proprietary database created from the Vuelta a España Road Books of the last 10 years. Each kit was analysed and categorised according to the amount of white in its design (considering the front section). The aim was to demonstrate with data whether those claims matched reality. Moreover, this article served as a 'testing ground' to innovate with new data visualisation tools that are now used by other professionals in the group.

The WAN-IFRA Digital Media Awards Europe recognise unique projects that demonstrate creativity, inspiration, and innovation, creating a lasting impact on newsrooms and their audiences. Over the past 17 years, they have acknowledged digital media products that stand out for their service to the community and the adoption of new formats, among other things.
