Alicante wakes up on Friday, December 27th, with the forecast of possible light and scattered showers in the central coast during the first half of the day. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has announced in its forecast the end of clear skies and sunny days that have marked recent weeks, and clouds will once again make their presence felt in the province.
Throughout the day, cloudy skies with probable mist in the interior and fog banks are expected. However, during the afternoon, the sky will clear up and tend to be slightly cloudy. This forecast will remain for the coming days.
As for temperatures, they will continue to fall, and weak frosts are also expected in some parts of the interior. The wind will blow gently variable, with a predominance of the east component during the first half of the day.
Specifically, fog warnings will be in place in Lugo (Galicia); Lleida (Barcelona); Ciudad Real and Toledo (Castilla-La Mancha); Ávila, Burgos, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, Valladolid, and Zamora (Castilla y León); and Huesca (Aragón).
AEMET has indicated that this Friday there will be anticyclonic, stable weather without precipitation in most of the country. Specifically, there is only a low probability of some light and scattered precipitation in parts of the Valencian Community or Alborán coast, as well as some showers accompanied by storms in the Canary Islands with higher relief.
In general terms, mostly clear or slightly cloudy skies will prevail, although with abundant low morning clouds in large areas of the northern half and eastern third of the peninsula, as well as in the Strait and Alborán. There, mist and fog will be widespread, which will generally tend to lift. Even so, they are expected to be denser and more persistent in the northeast peninsular depressions, interior of Lugo, middle valleys of the Tagus and Guadiana, and especially in the Northern Plateau. Meanwhile, in the Canary Islands, calima is expected to persist, with higher concentrations in the eastern islands.
Regarding temperatures, maximums will tend to rise around the Pyrenean area. Meanwhile, slight decreases will predominate in the rest of the Peninsula, which will be more pronounced in mountainous areas. In the archipelagos, there will be little change. On the other hand, minimums will decrease in the eastern half of the peninsula, with little change elsewhere.
According to the state agency, frosts will continue to affect large areas of the northern plateau and mountains of the northern half and southeastern peninsula, and cannot be ruled out in the southern plateau. Provincial capitals with the lowest forecast minimums will be Granada with -3ºC; and Cuenca with -2ºC.
Otherwise, the forecast notes that light north and northeast winds will blow in the Balearic Islands and light east component or calm winds will prevail in the Peninsula. These will be more intense on the northern coasts of Galicia, Strait, and Alborán, where intervals of strong easterly winds with very strong gusts are expected. Additionally, in the Canary Islands, moderate east component winds are expected in the eastern islands and light variable winds in the western islands.
