After Tuesday's dry burst alert, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated the orange alert in the interior and the north of the province. It is expected that this afternoon's storms will be accompanied by hail and strong gusts of wind.

In a situation similar to that experienced on Tuesday in the interior of Alicante, several municipalities have decided to reimplement the same measures decreed yesterday due to the dry burst. This includes Villena and Alcoi, which have ordered the closure of outdoor spaces.

In the town of Vinalopó, they warn of the alert, which will be in effect between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. The town's mayor, Fulgencio Cerdán, has issued a decree closing parks and gardens, the summer pool, and cancelling outdoor activities.

The same measures have been taken by the Alcoi town council, which has issued a statement announcing the implementation of the same measures as Tuesday. These include the closure of parks and municipal outdoor facilities. Additionally, outdoor sports activities are cancelled from 1 p.m. onwards.

The mayor of Villena has warned the population that "one should not be misled by the current weather this morning, as virulent storms have already occurred in some parts of Spain, emerging out of nowhere."

Cerdán points to the high temperatures, which make the weather unpredictable, and urges citizens to remain vigilant despite Tuesday's "almost imperceptible" rainfall. The mayor has appealed for a sense of caution, without alarmism, but with all possible preventive measures. Among the safety measures, he highlighted road travel in the area between Villena and the interior of the province of Albacete, cleaning water drains, and protecting against possible hailstorms.
