Former Elche footballer Carlos Clerc stated that he leaves the club "with a clear conscience" and his head held high after two and a half seasons with the team, as he announced in a statement on his social media.
The player was released by the club during the last winter transfer window, but neither the club, which made it official this Tuesday, nor the player had publicly commented or officially confirmed the termination of his contract until now.
Clerc, who underwent surgery last summer for a pubis injury, never fully recovered from the ailment, requiring another recent operation. The Catalan, who was contracted until the end of the season, expressed gratitude for the treatment received since his arrival at the club.
"I want to thank the club for the support provided in recent weeks, even though our paths are now separating," said the defender, who only managed to participate in one league match and one cup match this season. However, Clerc was a key player for Argentine coach Sebastián Beccacece.
The player wished "the best of luck" to the team and stated that his heart "will always be with Elche" despite his unusual departure. Earlier, Elche also commented on Clerc's departure, officially confirming the player's exit, with his spot in the squad being filled by Jairo Izquierdo.
The club justified the delay in officially announcing the player's departure "due to internal matters" and highlighted the Catalan's commitment and professionalism during the more than sixty matches he played for the team.
Meanwhile, midfielder Marc Aguado has undergone an MRI at the Affidea Clínica Tesla to determine the extent of the injury he sustained last Saturday at the Martínez Valero stadium during the match against Castellón.
Radiological tests have revealed that Marc Aguado suffers from an anterior dislocation in his right shoulder, according to the head of medical services Francisco Martínez. The recovery period will depend on his progress, although he will need to rest for at least a couple of weeks to allow the joint to heal.
Aguado joined Elche in the winter transfer window from Zaragoza at the express request of coach Eder Sarabia, with whom he had previously worked last season at Andorra.
