The province of Alicante and the region aim to be leaders in the film industry. Since filming resumed at the City of Light studios, they have hosted 13 productions with an impact of 60 million euros with superproductions like 'Venom 3' , or cult TV series like 'The Walking Dead'.
Considered by renowned film director Ridley Scott as "the best studios in the world," the Generalitat has boasted about this "first-class infrastructure" and claims that "it has the opportunity to become (Alicante and the region) the engine of the Spanish audiovisual sector."
This was stated by Innovation Minister Nuria Montes during the San Sebastián Film Festival, where she presented the region's film offerings, with Aguamarga studios as the crown jewel.
Montes has asked the central government to consider the autonomous territory as a "strategic hub for the audiovisual sector in Spain" so that regional companies and operators can compete for the 1.5 billion euros announced by the Executive to boost the national film industry.
In this regard, the minister highlighted the province's and region's potential to become a film reference in Spain. "The railway and air connections, security conditions, privileged climate, and diverse natural settings elevate the region's proposal to major international producers," said the minister.

To boost the film industry, the Generalitat will create a unique brand called 'Audiovisual Mediterranean Hub Region of Valencia' to bring together the entire value chain of the sector across all three provinces. Additionally, a public-private commission will be established to attract film productions, strengthening support for filming in 2025.
Other measures include enhancing the leadership of Valencian promoters or creating new filming spaces in "distinctive locations."
The regional secretary of Culture, accompanied by Álvaro López-Jamar, director general of Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC), has shown support for Valencian audiovisuals at the 72nd edition of San Sebastián International Film Festival.
"We are present in San Sebastián to support productions with Valencian participation that are screened in various competitive sections and in the festival market, but also to support professionals and producers from the Valencian audiovisual sector seeking production, distribution, and exhibition agreements at one of cinema's major international events," she stated.
