The Alicante City Council, through the Department of Strategic Plans and European Projects, will allocate 100,000 euros to subsidize projects developed in the Northern Zone and around the Vial de los Cipreses-Cemetery Neighborhood. The regulatory bases were approved this week by the Local Government Board.

These financial supports aim to enhance and promote the activities and projects of entities operating in these areas. Additionally, the Councilor for Strategic Plans and European Projects, Antonio Peral, personally presented the characteristics of the call for proposals to associations.

The city council is currently working on the second phase of the Comprehensive Plan for Vulnerable Neighborhoods in the Northern Zone of Alicante, which intervenes in Colonia Requena, Virgen del Remedio, Sidi Ifni-Nou Alacant, Juan XIII Second Sector, 400 Homes, Virgen del Carmen, and Villafranqueza. In this way, they foster collaboration with associative entities that contribute projects designed for these areas through annual subsidies.

Furthermore, a Plan of Action was initiated in 2017 in the Cemetery Neighborhood to improve the living conditions of the residents. This plan aimed to renew local infrastructure, facilitate access to social protection services, create spaces for community interaction, socio-educational activities, and mutual collaboration.

The common objectives are to promote community cohesion, civility, and social participation; develop preventive and promotional social action activities; launch awareness campaigns and promote Human Rights and equality among people; conduct training and employment insertion activities; foster equal opportunities and women's promotion; as well as promote educational projects on various themes.

The institution emphasizes that 85,000 euros are allocated for projects developed in the Northern Zone and 15,000 for those in the Cemetery.
