The Alicante City Council has approved the payment of the bonfire subsidies, both for adults and children. The Department of Festivities has approved the application of 90 districts, while one has been excluded from the aid for both adult and children's bonfires.
According to TodoAlicante, there was an issue with submitting the application through the official channel, so the documentation was sent via email awaiting a response, which never arrived, lament the affected commission.
It was this Tuesday when the Local Government Board of the Alicante City Council gave the green light to the granting of these subsidies, which will be paid almost a month and a half before the plantà.
"It is great news because this Government team has fulfilled the demands of the bonfire makers," celebrated the Councillor for Festivities, Cristina Cutanda; who addressed the requests made during the last fiscal year as the subsidy payment extended until mid-summer.
However, the total investment that the Alicante City Council will make during 2025 to relieve the commissions with the expenses of construction, storage, repair, maintenance, restoration, plantà, and cremà of adult and children's bonfires has been reduced.
This is due to the exclusion of a commission from this subsidy, both adult and child; leaving a total of 743,050 euros in favour of the beneficiary entities with a positive evaluation by the commission responsible for distributing the aid.
Increase in the subsidy
The City Council increases the aid for construction, plantà, and cremà by 2.5% compared to 2024, with a total investment of 745,900 euros. This amount is divided into 659,300 euros for the 91 adult bonfires and 86,000 euros for the children's.
