Londres will not be the only place where the chimes of Big Ben resonate. From a beach in Alicante, attendees will connect with the tower of the Palace of Westminster to celebrate New Year's Eve during the early hours of this Wednesday morning.

Thus, Benidorm will experience a double chime event this New Year's Eve. The City Council and the Association of Bars, Restaurants, and Cafeterias (Abreca) have organized a grand New Year's Eve party to be held from 6 PM on December 31st at the Levante Promenade.

This event is being held for the eighth consecutive year in the city of skyscrapers, allowing both locals and foreigners, especially Britons, to bid farewell to 2024 and welcome 2025, both in local Spanish time and GMT.

Minutes before midnight (Spanish time), a connection will be made from Benidorm to the Puerta del Sol to broadcast the twelve chimes live on screens installed at the Levante Promenade.

Following this, a grand pyromusical show combining music and fireworks will be offered in a synchronized manner, visible from the beach and other parts of the city.

One hour later, the party will connect through these same screens with the British television 'BBC' to broadcast the chimes from London's Big Ben. "It's a gesture we want to make for tourists of that nationality, who increasingly choose our city to spend Christmas and see out the year," they said.

The event, organized by Abreca with the support of the Departments of Festivities, Events, and Commerce of the Benidorm City Council, is expected to attract around 10,000 people, according to the Councillor for Festivities, Mariló Cebreros, and Abreca's Vice President, Alex Fratini.

The party will begin at 6 PM this Tuesday and will feature ambient music, DJ performances and national and international entertainment for all the gathered public. Numerous frontline leisure venues have also joined this New Year's Eve macro-party and will distribute Vinalopó grapes and party favors among attendees.

Another Event Postponed Due to Rain

The Benidorm Major Patronal Festivities Commission has postponed its planned New Year's Eve celebration for this Tuesday, December 31st. The festival-goers, anticipating rain, have rescheduled for the following Saturday, January 4th.

Other municipalities in the province of Alicante, such as Alcoi, Orihuela, and Torrevieja, have also suspended their celebrations due to the storm affecting the coast, with new dates yet to be confirmed.
