This is the mechanics of 'The Floor', the return of the contest to La 1 of TVE with singer Chenoa as the master of ceremonies.

It is the Spanish adaptation of an original format from the Netherlands, a major exporter of formats, which has already had versions in fifteen other countries, such as the United States, France, Italy, or Germany. In Spain, it already had a first stage in 2023 on Antena 3, presented by Manel Fuentes.

"In the cleaning products category, no one beats me. I know all the vacuum cleaner models that have come out so far," the presenter and singer commented with a laugh during the program's presentation to the media. However, she admitted that she would struggle with answers in different fields. "I would lose in quite a few categories. I am very chaotic and absent-minded, and if they asked me about football shields. I don't even know the colours," she highlighted, smiling.

She noted, moreover, that viewers will be able to play from their homes and the varied profile of the participants. 'The Floor' will pose questions to both its contestants and its audience on a wide range of topics, from international politics, world cities, Eurovision, Harry Potter, dog breeds, or car number plates.

Chenoa appeared nervous and expectant about her debut in a new entertainment program, far from the music that catapulted her to fame. In 2024, she already debuted as the host of 'Operación Triunfo' on Prime Video, a role she will reprise in the next edition of the 'talent show', whose casting will begin in days.

"The 'The Floor' team was very important in accepting to present it. It is a very demanding contest. The director encouraged me like a coach. I have been very involved. I almost slept in the dressing room," explained the now presenter.

Grateful

The singer expressed her gratitude for returning to TVE, "her home" and the one that saw her musical birth with the first season of OT in 2001. In recent years, she also collaborated on La 1's 'La noche D' and presented the New Year's Eve gala in 2021 and 2023.

'The Floor', whose premiere date on La 1 has not yet been revealed despite the airing of promotions, already had its first stage on Antena 3 with Manel Fuentes, with whom Chenoa, by the way, coincides on 'Tu cara me suena' on Antena 3.

"He wrote to wish me luck. And that's what's important because above all, we are colleagues," the singer appreciated. She also pointed out that the version of 'The Floor' that TVE will premiere will be slightly different from the one broadcast by the Atresmedia channel.

In this regard, David Gallart, the executive producer of Satisfaction Iberia, detailed that the revamped 'The Floor' will have changes in the set design. It will be more similar to the United States version and will feature a novelty in the mechanics: a golden square, which gives "more seconds for you to answer".

"It is a successful format that already arrives mature at RTVE. It has triumphed in more than 15 countries," the producer recalled.

For his part, Antonio Puerta, the director of 'The Floor', emphasized the dynamics of the contest: "The difference is that the contestants, when they challenge, face categories they do not control. It is a constantly evolving game, and their strategies continuously collapse."

Freshness and Excitement

The director of Entertainment at TVE, Miriam García Corrales, highlighted that Chenoa's participation in this contest brings "freshness, seriousness, and excitement" and that this will be one of the surprises of the program.

"She does something very new in a contest of this type that wants to be very epic. She supports the contestants, and I think you will like Chenoa very much," advanced the public television executive, who also highlighted the profiles that compete. "We have 100 contestants with very interesting profiles," concluded the RTVE official.

The players come from 27 provinces, from Seville and Cantabria to Madrid, Barcelona, or Santa Cruz de Tenerife. They have occupations as varied as surprising: fashion designer, broker, cabinetmaker, taxi driver, hydrogeologist, hairdresser, tattoo artist, illusionist, or criminologist, among many others.
