The first recharge of the new Móbilis30 card has caused chaos among users of the Alicante Tram and TAM buses. The Generalitat acknowledges that the update to transition from free travel to payment - with a 50% discount for young people up to 31 years old - of this transport pass has an error.

This malfunction led to user frustration on Tuesday when the new rates and conditions came into effect. Many went to the automatic recharge points of the Alicante Tram to make the first payment, which ended up being a failed attempt.

The same happened at the TAM points in the city, where the same and others went with the same result. The recharge system update has not been effective, declining the payment and activation of travel passes.

Due to this situation, denounced by both users and associations, the Generalitat held an "urgent" meeting on Tuesday to address the situation and seek solutions. According to TodoAlicante, this involves extending the free travel on Móbilis30 cards that encounter errors.

With this measure, technical teams will investigate the error in this update affecting the recharge machines and sales to fix the malfunction and allow users to use the card normally.

For now, the Alicante Tram stations already display messages on their screens announcing the extension of the Móbilis30 card's free travel, in cases where the system error prevents travel recharges.

They demand a unique regional title

The Valencian Association for Public Transport (AVPTP) has issued a statement in which it denounces that the first day of the new rates "was an absolute chaos" because the charging and sales devices "were not properly updated."

"This situation has caused many people to buy additional tickets to the passes they initially intended to pay for," they state.

Additionally, the AVPTP criticises that despite the end of free travel, "the advantages offered" by the previous Joves 30 and Móbilis30 cards were not utilised, and that a "reduced-price regional title valid in all areas for young people" to travel throughout the Community with a single pass was not created.
