In a television landscape where celebrities have done almost everything in front of viewers, 'Bake Off: Celebrities in the Oven' takes it a step further. La 1 premieres tonight (10:00 PM) the third edition of this unique talent show where fourteen popular contestants will compete to become Spain's best baker and win a prize of 100,000 euros, which they will donate to a charity of their choice.
With Paula Vázquez once again as the master of ceremonies, the format returns to the public broadcaster with a demanding jury composed of Paco Roncero, Eva Arguiñano, and Damián Betular, promising a season that will be "more spectacular, fun, competitive, and emotional."
"I have stepped out of my comfort zone and learned to do a television format like this," said one of the participants, presenter Cristina Tárrega, who temporarily moves from Telecinco to TVE to debut as a contestant in this entertainment programme. She revealed that she donated the money won in the show to her homeland, Valencia, affected by the consequences of the storm.
Nagore Robles also migrates from Mediaset to La 1, who rose to fame after her participation in 'Big Brother'. "This has been a huge gift. I hope to continue being part of this great family that is TVE," she wished. "There has been a lot of emotion, obviously we have shed many layers. It's very beautiful to show yourself as you are through cooking," she added.
Also joining from television is presenter Isabel Gemio, who makes the leap to entertainment as a contestant. "It has been an experience I will always be grateful for, because at this moment in my life it was very beneficial," confesses the Extremaduran, who took her participation in 'Bake Off' as "a challenge," where she experienced situations she had never faced on the small screen: "I was embarrassed to do poorly and make my children look bad. It caught me at a vulnerable time in my life, but there was a very beautiful energy. It was therapeutic."
Motorcycling pilot Pol Espargaró also cherishes the experience gained from the format. "It has been intense. Each of us has brought out our best version. Sport is a very closed world and here I had the opportunity to be myself," he defended.
Meanwhile, the master Joao, another face of 'Bake Off', shared his emotions after filming the programme. "I have laughed, I have cried, and yes, I have learned, but from my colleagues," he admitted. The third edition's cast is completed by other celebrities such as Cósima Ramírez, Finito de Córdoba, Yurena, Mark Vanderloo, Víctor Sandoval, Carmen Morales, Mario Marzo, Lidia Torrent, and Mario Jefferson.
The director of TVE, Sergio Calderón, defended that hosting the new edition of 'Bake Off' is an honour because, as he explained, it is "an internationally successful format, which works very well on social media and in the digital environment" and serves to "consolidate RTVE's commitment to entertainment," one of the corporation's objectives for this year, after being the media group "that has grown the most in 2024."
For Edie Walter, CEO of the production company Boxfish, "it is the programme we all want to make, it is a tent of surprises, there is good vibes, it is exciting and there is camaraderie." And according to its director, Raúl Delgado, "the team is a fantasy": "You will discover their personalities and you will be amazed."
"Nothing makes me prouder than being part of this cast. This programme has a special life," defined presenter Paula Vázquez, while Eva Arguiñano highlighted the "emotion" they feel as they discover the contestants' personalities.
The new edition of 'Bake Off: Celebrities in the Oven' arrives on La 1 with a double premiere. In the first programme this Sunday, the fourteen contestants will have to bake cookies dedicated to their pets in the author's test and let their imagination fly to innovate a traditional cheesecake.
In the second episode, which the public broadcaster will air on Monday at 10:50 PM, the bakers receive a visit from former Madrid mayor Manuel Carmena, famous for her homemade muffins. After receiving her advice, the participants must exactly replicate the snowman-shaped cake proposed by the jury and made with muffins. Additionally, they face the author's test in which they have to make six rolls with special flavours chosen by themselves.
