CCOO, the union, has raised concerns over Correos' closure of its nodal centres in Alicante and 35 other provinces across the country, stating that the process is being conducted 'unilaterally and opaquely'. The union views this strategy as an attempt to 'reorganise work and precarise the working conditions of the staff'.
Among the grievances the union has against the public company is that over 85% of new positions remain part-time, violating the Framework Agreement that advocated for stability and full-time work. Additionally, 'forced relocations' are imposed without minimum guarantees of transport, compensation, or return, which 'severely affects family reconciliation and seems to aim at covert dismissals'.
The union does not rule out adopting pressure measures, including mobilisations and legal actions.
They also report salary losses due to the removal of bonuses such as night shifts, automation, or responsibility, without any compensation (47 people affected in the province, 900 nationwide). Finally, they criticise the introduction of new 'unagreed' requirements, such as a driving licence, which leave part of the staff 'defenceless, unjustly altering the conditions for accessing new positions'.
Union representatives participated in a meeting with Correos officials on Monday to negotiate the closure of the nodal centres, where they stated they would not endorse this 'covert precarisation operation'. They warned that if there are no changes in the company's stance, they do not rule out adopting pressure measures, including mobilisations and legal actions.
