The Local Police of Elche have arrested two squatters while they were trying to enter a house. The two men, aged 41 and 44, were breaking the wall of a property with several large tools.
According to the local security force, the officers received an alert from a neighbor who claimed to have seen two men trying to enter an unoccupied house on Santa Pola Avenue. Several officers immediately went to the scene, where they caught the squatters.
They were demolishing the wall of the house with large tools. When questioned, one of them insisted they could enter the property as they had a rental contract, which they showed to the police and appeared to be falsified.
After carrying out the necessary procedures and contacting the Conselleria's normalization and inspection unit, they were informed that the house had not been allocated to anyone, as it was under judicial investigation for an alleged crime against public health. They also confirmed that the contract was fake.
As a result, the police notified the municipal service to re-wall the house and arrested the two men for the alleged crimes of document forgery, attempted property usurpation, and damage.
