Caught Attempting to Burgle a Country House in Elche with the Owners Inside

The National Police have arrested a 48-year-old man in Elche for allegedly committing a burglary in an occupied house. The owner caught the thief rummaging through his belongings, at which point he jumped to the adjacent plot and began to flee, but officers apprehended him before he could escape.

According to investigation sources, it was the resident of the country house located in the Altábix area who raised the alarm. In his call, he indicated that he had caught the man inside his property's plot, attempting to take various items from a box.

After being discovered, the perpetrator had jumped the fence of the neighbouring house and then leapt from there to a nearby path, where he fled on foot. It was one of the patrols on duty, conducting public safety prevention functions in the rural areas of Elche, that headed to the scene.

The officers spotted a man trying to flee over the road's guardrail, matching the physical and clothing descriptions provided by the victim and witness in his call.

For this reason, the officers intercepted and arrested him as the suspected perpetrator of an attempted burglary in an occupied dwelling, subsequently bringing him before the local magistrates' court after completing police procedures.
