Los Mossos d'Esquadra have integrated 25 Zero Motorcycles electric bikes, reinforcing their commitment to sustainability and reducing emissions and noise, while optimizing their daily operations with more efficient and low-maintenance vehicles.
The new electric motorcycles, by not producing emissions or noise pollution, will allow officers to patrol more discreetly in urban and natural environments, even accessing areas restricted to combustion vehicles. Additionally, their smooth and fluid handling, due to the absence of gear changes, enhances the comfort of officers who spend hours on the handlebars.
The Mossos d'Esquadra highlight that the addition of these 25 DSR/X bikes means "faster incident resolution, more versatility, and being completely eco-friendly. These are three standout factors among the many benefits that Zero offers us." They also point out that the advantages of Zero over an internal combustion motorcycle are: "The first is that we do not pollute and lose nothing compared to the conventional motorcycle; this is very important. If not polluting meant losing performance, we would have to consider it. But in this case, we lose nothing, and the electric motorcycle gives you the power from the start. It's easier to catch someone when you go fast over a short distance, it makes less noise... It's the same performance as a conventional motorcycle but without polluting."
For Josep Antoni Saumell, Superintendent and Deputy Chief of the Superior Technical Security Planning Commission, DTPS, Mossos d'Esquadra, the message they can convey with this service addition is clear and concise: "Faster, closer, and more eco-friendly."
Meanwhile, Aniol Canet, Country Manager of Zero Motorcycles for Spain and Portugal, emphasizes the suitability of these bikes for security forces: "We are proud that the Mossos d'Esquadra trust Zero Motorcycles for their mobility. Our bikes combine power, range, and reliability with minimal environmental impact, offering an ideal tool for 21st-century police work."
The addition of these 25 units strengthens the Mossos d'Esquadra's strategy to modernize their fleet with more eco-friendly and efficient solutions, aligned with the sustainability goals set by the Generalitat of Catalunya.
