Carrasco arrived at the second race in Jerez with a 13-point lead over her rival, the Toledo native María Herrera. In the first race, Herrera crossed the finish line in first position to tighten the world championship a bit more. Ana was second and needed to be fourth or better in the last race to lift the world champion trophy.
At the start, Herrera was ambitious and took the lead, with Ana following closely. The intensity increased lap by lap, with continuous exchanges at the front of the race. In the final stretch, the leading group consisted of six riders, including the two protagonists, and the Spanish riders Sara Sánchez, Beatriz Neila, and Pakita Ruiz, as well as the Italian Roberta Ponziani, were fighting for victory.
The biggest scare for the Murcian came with three laps to go. Herrera was leading, and Carrasco was fifth, at that moment losing the world championship by just one point. Nerves got the better of the Toledo native, and she went wide in a corner, dropping to fourth and having to deal with Ana, who even made contact. Herrera resisted letting that be her end.
The Toledo native gritted her teeth and fought until the last meters to become world champion. She was first on the last lap and approached turn number 13 of the Ángel Nieto circuit in Jerez as second while Ana Carrasco was fifth. In a final attempt to overtake Sara Sánchez, who was leading the race, the title contender fell, leaving the championship on a platter for the Murcian, who finally crossed the finish line in third position. Thus, Ana Carrasco becomes world champion again, as she was in 2018 in the Supersport 300 category.
