Carlos Alcaraz exits early in Miami

Unexpected defeat for Carlos Alcaraz in his debut at the Miami Masters 1000. The Spaniard lost to Belgian David Goffin 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 in two hours and 19 minutes, in a match where he never felt comfortable despite winning the first set.

Alcaraz, who recently fell in the semi-finals at Indian Wells, couldn't get past his debut in Miami, where he hoped to gain points on Sinner in the race for the number one spot. The Spaniard never found his rhythm and committed 40 errors during the match, which Goffin capitalised on to win.

Now, the Spaniard must focus on the clay court season, culminating in Roland Garros, where he will once again defend his title.
