'Care 2.0' is the revamped web portal launched by the Alicante General Hospital Health Department to highlight and enhance the role of nursing.
With 15 years of history, this platform is part of the hospital's legacy as a benchmark for nursing in this Alicante department and has been a key tool since its inception for improving internal communication and access to relevant information for nursing staff.
The new version addresses the challenges of the current digital and healthcare environment, aiming to improve care quality, patient safety, optimise communication, and the efficiency of nursing professionals, as well as ensure more personalised and closer attention to the public.
"We want to offer a more accessible and practical experience, allowing the consultation of key information, clinical guides, digital tools, and continuous training content adapted to the new realities of nursing care," added the Director of Nursing at the Doctor Balmis University General Hospital, Mª Remedio Yáñez.
Meanwhile, the manager of the Alicante General Hospital Health Department, Francisco Soriano, emphasised that this relaunch "is part of the digital transformation strategy promoted by the Generalitat Valenciana to modernise healthcare and improve access to information and resources for both professionals and patients."
According to the Director of Nursing at the Doctor Balmis University General Hospital, Mª Remedio Yáñez, "it represents a determined commitment to highlight, modernise, and strengthen the role of nursing in the healthcare system. It is configured as a shared knowledge space that facilitates access to updated and useful resources for clinical practice."
Video Tutorial Section
The website offers a comprehensive set of sections aimed at both healthcare professionals seeking to innovate in their practices and patients and their families.
Among its contents are resources aimed at the public (such as information on care units, activities, and educational materials for self-care), as well as various sections for nursing staff, which include protocols, procedures, clinical guides, digital tools, quality indicators, patient safety, research, and primary care.
The portal can be visited at the web address: https://alicante.san.gva.es/es/web/enfermeria-cuidados20
One of the most prominent sections is 'Video Tutorials', dedicated to educational audiovisual material to facilitate training in nursing techniques and the use of information systems employed in the hospital environment.
As explained by the Nursing Information Systems Supervisor, Manuela Domingo, "we have developed this repository of training videos over the years, to improve the use of digital tools in patient care and ensure that health professionals are prepared to integrate new technologies into their daily practice."
The website also provides support materials for the onboarding of new professionals and a news section with relevant news, conferences, and events in the field of care.
"We invite all healthcare system professionals, students, patients, and the general public to visit the new portal, which is available at the following link (https://alicante.san.gva.es/es/web/enfermeria-cuidados20) and to participate in its evolution," concluded the Director of Nursing.
