Consorci Mare, the entity managing waste for 52 municipalities in Marina Alta, Marina Baixa, and El Campello, has surpassed 10,000 registered citizens in its computerized eco-park system this week. This marks a new record in citizen participation and environmental commitment.
In the case of Calp, the activity of the mobile eco-park reveals specific data about recycling habits. Between January 1 and May 31, the most deposited waste included small appliances, alkaline batteries, metals, plastics, and textiles. The mobile unit is regularly set up on Finlandia Street, Wednesdays from 10 AM to 6 PM and Fridays from 10 AM to 2 PM. 99% of the service users in Calp are individuals, with only 1% being companies or entities.
Recycling Incentives
The major innovation will arrive in 2026, when the Town Hall and Consorci Mare will launch a system of bonuses and rewards for those who recycle through the mobile eco-park. To access these benefits, registration in the system is essential, which only requires visiting the ecomobile with an ID during one of its visits.
Registered individuals will be able to check at any time what type of waste they have recycled and qualify for various prizes, clearly aiming to encourage domestic recycling and waste traceability.
Moreover, the town council is already considering individual benefits for those who recycle the most, aiming to implement long-term incentives that reduce service costs and foster civic commitment.
A Key Environmental Service
Mobile eco-parks are specially designed facilities to collect waste that cannot be disposed of in regular containers, such as small electronic devices, motor or cooking oil, used clothing, paints, or minor construction debris.
This type of waste, like appliances, tends to be highly polluting if not properly treated. Using the ecomobile helps reduce landfill volume, promote the circular economy, protect the environment, and prevent unnecessary extraction of raw materials.
According to the consortium, "recycling at the eco-park is not just an environmental gesture: it is a direct way to care for the territory, save resources, and build a greener and fairer Marina Alta."
