Calp bans construction work in August and restricts hours for the rest of the summer

In August, no construction work will be allowed. This is stipulated by the municipal ordinance on acoustic conditions in Calp, which came into effect earlier this week. With this decree, working hours are also restricted for the rest of the summer, ensuring the siesta period remains noise-free.

The municipal intention with this ordinance is to ensure peace for both residents and visitors of Calp. Thus, the Town Hall aims to balance construction and leisure activities with the individual right to rest.

For now, construction work is permitted during July with time limits divided into two slots each day until the 31st, and will resume again in September.

Therefore, both public and private works related to urbanization, construction, building, or any other kind that may produce noise are regulated by the ordinance with working hours between 9 am and 2 pm, and between 5 pm and 8 pm.

However, the document emphasizes that "urgent or public interest works, carried out for reasons of necessity or danger," will be exempt from the prohibition.

In August, Calp prohibits all types of urbanization, construction, or building works on urban land between the 1st and 31st, except for "small jobs that do not produce noise or disturb neighbors."

The municipal ordinance distinguishes between different activities that could potentially cause noise and the solutions to mitigate their effects. With these measures, the Town Hall aims to balance construction and leisure activities with the individual right to rest.

The Town Council calls on citizens to comply with the ordinance to ensure the tourist season proceeds without acoustic disturbances, given the town's predominantly tourist nature.
