Calp awards beach lifeguard contract for the next four years

Calp Town Hall has awarded the contract for the lifeguard and rescue service, first intervention transport, and assisted bathing on the beaches and marine coastline to the company Eulen S.A. for €3,146,185. Following the signing of the contract, the service will commence next Monday, 9th June, as announced by the Calp Council.

The company will ensure the safety of bathing on the Calp beaches for the next four years. Their tasks will include preventing potential incidents and rescuing those in danger. They will conduct surveillance by land and sea, whether on the beach or from proximity chairs, or from boats covering the 13 kilometres of Calp's coastline.

The contract divides the service provision into low, medium, and high seasons, with different allocations at each time. The lifeguard and rescue service covers Cala de la Calalga, Playa de la Fossa, Cala del Racó del Port, Playa de Cantal Roig, Cala del Morelló, Playa del Arenal-Bol, and Playa de Puerto Blanco. The scope of the boats and sanitary transport must cover the entire coastline. Assisted bathing will be developed in the accessible beach areas of Fossa and Arenal-Bol.

It is precisely in assisted bathing where innovations are introduced with the new contract, as the service of transporting people with disabilities or mobility issues to the adapted beach is offered. To enjoy this service, it will only be necessary to request it by phone.

The service and personnel adapt to the needs of each season, so depending on the season, the number of lifeguards, beach chiefs, ambulance drivers, boat captains, etc., varies, reaching up to 32 people in high season. In this regard, Eulen's provision of a greater number of lifeguards with additional personnel beyond what is established in the specifications has been valued. The ambulance service must be provided in all periods, and the rescue boat will operate in high season.
