On Thursday, January 16, Calp travels for the second time to the Matka Nordic Travel Fair, the most important tourism fair in Helsinki and the Scandinavian market. The municipality participates in this fair within the Tourespaña stand.

A delegation led by the Councillor for International Promotion, Marco Bittner, and tourism technician Sandra Pastor has travelled to Helsinki. This fair is the most influential in Northern Europe and the Baltic countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, with Russia not participating due to the conflict with Ukraine). According to statistics, Finland is the European country where people travel the most per capita.

The goal this year is to sell the destination outside the summer season, taking advantage of Calp's climatic conditions throughout most of the year, targeting a market with harsh winters. This market becomes an ideal target for the off-season offerings that Calp provides.

The Matka Travel Fair annually attracts more than 50,000 visitors and 13,000 professionals. The first two days of the fair are open to professionals and media, while the last two are open to the general public. The event has become a meeting place in Northern Europe for travel industry professionals, general visitors, and sector companies.

The Department of Tourism plans to make a presentation of the destination on one of the central stages of Tour España, showcasing Calp's possibilities in sports and cultural and heritage richness. This presentation, alongside the Alcoy City Council, is promoted by the Costa Blanca Tourism Board and is titled "The Essence of Costa Blanca: from Calpe a Coastal Gem to Alcoy an Inland Oasis".

The Councillor for International Promotion, Marco Bittner, states: "We are facing a market that not only escapes the harsh weather but also seeks experiential, family, and active travel. The possibility of offering heritage, gastronomy, and outdoor sports outside the summer seasons makes Calp a key player at this fair."
